Welcome to the Canford Conductors web site.

This is an unofficial site which is designed and maintained by students who have attended the annual conductors' courses at Canford Summer School of Music.

In 2005 the summer school moved from Canford School to Sherborne school in Dorset but it still retains its title of Canford Summer School of Music.

Canford ranks as one of the world's most famous. highly regarded and long-established conducting courses. It was founded by George Hurst in 1960 and has run continuously since then.

In addition to the main orchestral course there are three others:

Practical Conducting - a week long course (in the first week of the summer school) directed by Rodolfo Saglimbeni.

The Art of Choral Direction - Directed by David Lawrence and assisted by Julian Wilkins

Wind Band Conducting - with Tim Reynish and Phillip Scott.
